The new, user-friendly system for learning to play Catan!
Are you new to the game of Catan? Don't worry! Even though the CatanFusion system is very different from the way you may have played Catan in the past, you will catch on quickly. Here's how it works:
- You can read all of the articles in order, or search for exactly what you are looking for. Either way, we provide handy links in each article to help you find other articles that may be helpful.
- Each article has videos, podcasts, and photographs to help you learn the rules and understand the reasoning. If you are still confused, you may find the answer on our FAQ. Or, you can reach out to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
- Because the CatanFusion system involves many new pieces, new rules, and new names, a short DICTIONARY entry is included at the beginning of each section, providing important TERMS and DEFINITIONS to catch you up to speed. Here's an example:

Don't spend too much time reading! As soon as you get the basic idea, start playing--you'll learn much faster, and have more specific questions as a result. Now, let's begin:
The Legend of Catan
As the game begins, you are a clan leader, along with your fellow game opponents. Having fully explored and settled your homeland of Catan, you are beginning anew in a new world. Needless to say, it is important for your clan to open up new regions by constructing trade routes and buildings. However, the tasks assigned to you by the Council require you to be mindful of Catan’s common good. If you find the right balance, you have a good chance of becoming the most successful of Catan’s many clans.
